This new series is a baking competition show that does not feel like a competition show, as the contestants genuinely get along and are supportive of each other. Each episode has the four expert bakers competing to win the business of a client who is planning a special event, with highly inventive concoctions. The client picks one design from the four options, which will then be made for their occasion. Viewers tend to enjoy the nice and friendly vibes of the show, a nice diversion from the many prevalent hyper-competitive alternatives.
Season 2 premiered January 20, 2023.

See Bake Squad on Netflix for episode details.
2. Baking Impossible

A long-running, extremely popular cooking competition show that has amateur bakers facing three challenges per episode, encompassing 10 weeks per season, in hopes of being named the UK’s best amateur baker. Viewers love the easy-going, good natured tone of the show, as well as the friendliness of the contestants. Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith are likely the two most respected and likeable baking judges in all of “reality baking TV-dom”. Their feedback is always genuine, constructive and encouraging. Constestants know that when they receive high praise it is well deserved!

An unusual hybrid of a show that is part baking competition, game show and hyperrealism art exhibit. We are most intrigued by the incredible creative possibilities of cakes realistically impersonating anything but cakes. If this topic grabs your interest, be sure to check your local market for “hyper-realistic cakes” – it’s a thing.
